Sunday Focus: Crime and Punishment

  

   Donald Trump's abortion comment dominated political news last week....he said there would have to be "some sort of punishment" for women who have abortions, if it becomes illegal.

     Here is what you will hear Trump say THIS morning at 9:30 AM on Face The Nation on CBS 8:

"Trump sought to clarify his position during an interview on Friday with "Face the Nation" moderator John Dickerson. The interview will air, in part, on Sunday's broadcast.

"A question was asked to me. And it was asked in a very hypothetical. And it was said, 'Illegal, illegal,'" Trump explained. "I've been told by some people that was an older line answer and that was an answer that was given on a, you know, basis of an older line from years ago on a very conservative basis."

IF, and that is a huge IF, IF abortion is made illegal, and comparable to murder, do you believe only the medical personnel who perform the operation should be charged? 

     Fine. Now name one other adult criminal offense in which only some of those taking part are held legally accountable and are charged with the crime. 
     If a man is driving the getaway car in a bank robbery, and the robbers inside the bank kill a guard, the driver is charged with murder as well. 
     A week ago, prosecutors in Augusta, Georgia charged an entire group of juveniles with murder because they took part in a brawn in which one person died.
     A woman who uses drugs while she is pregnant us charged if the child dies.

      Prosecutors charge a wider circle of defendants, not a narrower one. Why would, or should, the pregnant woman be exempt IF abortion is the equivalent of murder?
