The connection between Tuesday's 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his complaints about Roman Catholicism on a church door, and the equally historic actions taken by his namesake centuries later---Martin Luther King, Jr.--- didn't get much attention in Montgomery that I could tell...though Alabama News Network covered a Protestant church celebration.
The Washington Post and others wrote about it. I mean, how often to we mark the 500th anniversary of anything that still has meaning to those of us alive today?
Read The Post story HERE.
And while I'm in the recommended-reading mode...a wonderfully written piece in The New York Times tells another Catholic Church story. It is about the Irish establishment of homes for pregnant girls and their illegitimate babies, and how the many, many infants and children who died were disposed of.
I hope you can get past the pay wall for these two stories. They are worth the subscription price!
