All but one member of Alabama U.S. House delegation voted against closing the "guns show loophole" that allows anyone to buy a gun from an individual at a gun show without any background check.
Rep. Terri Sewell, the only Democrat in the Alabama House delegation, voted to close the loophole. All of the others, Republicans, voted against closing it.
Sewell tweeted:
“Today we demanded more than thoughts and prayers – we demanded action. I’m proud to co-sponsor the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and with its passage today, we proved that we will not stand by while gun violence rips apart our communities.”
Of course the measure will never become law because of the Republican majority U.S. Senate and the Republican White House.
