The Wall Street Journal reports that the owner of what used to be the three largest daily newspapers in Alabama* apparently now has a $10 Billion pot of money to invest. Elsewhere.
*the three now only publish actual printed newspapers three days a week. The Montgomery Advertiser is now the largest "daily" paper in the state.

Advance Publications is investing $10 billion to rely on more than media — into theater, esports, and more →
Advance, the owner of outlets including the New Yorker, Vanity
Fair, the Oregonian, and the Star-Ledger, also holds a substantial stake
in Reddit. Now it’s diversifying further with acquisitions of “a group
of European theaters, a maker of plagiarism-detection software, a
majority stake in an esports analytics firm and a stake in a rocket
operator specializing in low-Earth-orbit satellite launches.”
I'm confident all of the former employees of The Birmingham News, The Huntsville Times, and The Press Register in Mobile will be glad to know their former salaries are going to good use analyzing e-sports.
