My 50 year broadcasting career was split about 50/50 Radio and TV, so for the past 25 years, in Birmingham and Montgomery, I've had haircuts paid for and decided by TV managers.
As you may have seen in a previous posting, I had one cut outside the TV control when the producers of the movie Son of The South had their hair guy---Jason Frazier---do the cut---.
Sometimes when I was vacationing from those TV jobs I would let the hair grow a bit, and the beard too (as I'm doing now, at least for a while).
My friend Jerry in Birmingham can tell the story of the week-long beach trip when I decided to see what my hair would look like in it's original jet black state. Oops. It took some serious work by a professional colorist to get it back in shape in time for me to resume my hosting duties on "For The Record".
The radio years were obviously must more forgiving....
I could pretty much wear the hair a I wanted,as I did during this trip to Ft. Payne in the early 80's......
