Spike Lee: Shut Down Film work in Georgia!

Lee is quoted regarding that state's abortion law:

While many studios are waiting for the law to take effect next year before taking any action, Georgia-based productions should “shut it down” now, Lee said Thursday at actor Denzel Washington’s AFI Lifetime Achievement tribute, according to The Associated Press.

The film includes the story of Freedom Riders attacked in the city.
Lee acknowledged that a mass exodus could dent livelihoods, but cited black bus drivers affected by the Civil Rights Movement-era boycott in Montgomery.

Lee is the Executive Producer of Son of The South, a film that apparently just ended production in Montgomery.
There has been no such threat against Alabama's much smaller film industry, even though Alabama's anti-abortion law is perhaps more draconian.

The Hollywood Reporter last month asked why so few Hollywood heavy hitters were silent on the Georgia law:

the vast majority of the filmmakers and executives who are arguably closest to the Georgia film community are remaining tight-lipped on the heated issue. Of the more than six dozen production companies, filmmakers and actors currently shooting or about to shoot in the state that THR reached out to for this story, only two responded, Imagine Entertainment and Ozark star and producer Jason Bateman. Notably absent from the discussion is Tyler Perry, who operates a massive 330-acre studio in Atlanta and provides jobs for hundreds of people there. Says one on-the-ground source, "He likes to stay way below the radar."
