Auto Exhaust

List #1 ---States that have signed a letter to the White House. They have formed the United States Climate Alliance and say they represent "52 percent of the U.S. population and 57percent of the economy". They write they will...

"...stand together in calling for one strong, national clean car standard and support preserving state authority to protect our residents from vehicle pollution.  Strong vehicle standards protect our communities from unnecessary air pollution and fuel costs, and they address the largest source of carbon pollution in the United States."

California | Colorado | Connecticut | Delaware | Hawaii | Illinois | Maine | Maryland | Massachusetts | Minnesota | Montana | Nevada | New Jersey | New Mexico | New York | North Carolina | Oregon | Pennsylvania | Puerto Rico | Rhode Island | Vermont | Virginia | Washington | Wisconsin

List #2 --- The largest car producing states in the U.S.

 Michigan/ Ohio / Indiana / Texas / Illinois / Tennessee / Missouri / Kentucky / Alabama / Mississippi.

Only one state is on both lists...Illinois.

The bottom list includes many, like Alabama, who are so called "right to work" (i.e. anti-union) states that normally argue for state's rights.
But in this case, they perhaps want Big Federal Government to preserve their profits.
