It is no longer news when a study or court decision finds overcrowding and mistreatment in the Alabama Prison System.
It is a history lesson.
Nonetheless, let me point you to an excellent newspaper story about how the state has ignored the problems since, well, forever.
You'll find it in the Decatur Times-Daily, a newspaper that is Exhibit "A" in proving how indispensable newspapers still are, though the story originated with The Alabama Daily news website, run by Martha Roby's former press secretary, Todd Stacy (and it makes me wonder what lame duck Rep. Roby did to help solve the problem!).
At least the Daily had the sense to post it.
Here's the story.
