H.S. Life Without Football?

Here's the headline* from Frederick Maryland News-Post:

Imagine empty fields anywhere in Alabama?

TJ High pulls plug on varsity football season

Thomas Johnson (High School in Maryland) had not played a varsity football game since Sept. 6, when it opened the season with a 49-0 loss at Middletown.
Due to injuries suffered in that game and a player ejection that triggered a one-game suspension, a roster of 22 players was quickly reduced to 14, making it untenable for TJ to field a team due to safety concerns.
The Patriots since forfeited games to Tuscarora, Oakdale and Walkersville before making the decision to cancel the rest of the varsity season.

The full story is HERE.

Can you imagine a High School doing that in Alabama?

*And let me not forget to thank our H.S. Football AND Maryland correspondent---Jay--- for the tip.

  1. Don't worry too much about Maryland (or at least about Frederick County) high-schoolers. We still have soccer, field hockey, lacrosse as fall sports.
