Forever Chemicals In Alabama

The movie Dark Waters tells the story of The Dupont Chemical Company and a massive lawsuit against it.
Now an environmental group is reporting about some of the same pollution that "stars" in the film.

A report from The Environmental Working Group (EWG) ranks several Alabama cities:

"New laboratory tests commissioned by EWG have for the first time found the toxic fluorinated chemicals known as PFAS in the drinking water of dozens of U.S. cities, including major metropolitan areas. The results confirm that the number of Americans exposed to PFAS from contaminated tap water has been dramatically underestimated by previous studies, both from the Environmental Protection Agency and EWG’s own research.

The highest ranking Alabama city is Decatur, which is in the top 10 cities. Birmingham follows, with Tuscaloosa in much better shape:

Only one city, Meridian, Mississippi, which uses well water 700 feet below the surface, found no PFAS, while Tuscaloosa, Alabama  and Seattle had levels lower than the 1 part per trillion limit advised by the EWG.

The Montgomery Water Works was not included in the study, but their annual report on water quality is HERE.

(NOTE: If there ARE PFSA in the water in Montgomery, they are not listed under that name.) However a map from the EWG lists Maxwell Air Force Base, Millbrook, and Prattville.
