Corruption in Alabama

Good News Alabama!
We aren't even ranked in a new study of corrupt States by the University of Chicago (where they know a lot about corruption).

The study ranks D.C. (where there are a lot of politicians and apparently a lot of corruption) as #1, with 16.79 convictions per 10k of population.

Of course it could also mean that corrupt politicians in Alabama just have not been caught! Or not convicted!

Speaking of, former Speaker of The Alabama House Mike Hubbard is still out of jail, and he was not only convicted but sentenced to four years in prison (four years ago in July!) There is some speculation that the Alabama Supreme Court is waiting till after the November elections to rule on his appeal.

  1. Of course DC has the highest rate. Congress-critters, who need to maintain homes both in DC and their home state; lobbyists; grifters; con artists. They all end up in DC one way or another.
