NPR Fresh Air Host Terry Gross interviewed Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson in connection with the just released biopic "Just Mercy":
GROSS: "So you want to change the narrative. So that's why you were the force behind the new National Memorial for Peace and Justice and the Legacy Museum. Many of our listeners are not familiar with these yet and haven't been able to travel to Montgomery to see them, so can you briefly describe each of them for us?"
You have to listen to the interview to hear Gross chuckle (at about 8:43) as she says the words travel to Montgomery, as if the very thought of people visiting Alabama's Capitol City is ridiculous.
(The transcription of the entire interview is HERE.)
I think the local NPR stations, including, WAPR, Troy Public Radio, Alabama Pubic Radio and ASU's WVAS should invite Gross to Montgomery for a visit, and if after that visit, she still wants to smirk about tourists coming to Montgomery, so be it.
Your turn, Terri.
