Four down ----twelve to go!
Workers have now installed four of the sixteen "lifting lugs" onto the wreckage of the Golden Ray. They'll be used to help remove sections of the ship as they cut the 660 foot long ship in pieces for removal. It was almost brand new, built in 2017.
The ship capsized as it was leaving the Port of Brunswick, Georgia.
Onboard are thousands of new cars, now rusting scrap metal and spoiled interior materials.
That appears to be a pile of crumpled cars at the end of one of the freight areas of the Golden Ray.
The company handling the dismantling of the vessel hopes to beat the June 1st start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, though the Unified Command handling the operation suggested an end date of late 2020.
