COVID: Treating obesity as a factor leading to early vaccination

The Washington Post headline tells the story:

All overweight D.C. residents will get priority for the coronavirus vaccine. Experts are skeptical.

...and the story point out only a few other places are doing the same:

"Only a few states, including Alabama, Nevada and New Jersey, have committed to vaccinating people with all the conditions on that CDC list. Other states’ vaccine plans indicate they will omit some people — smokers in some cases, or pregnant people, or people with only one co-morbidity."

Which is laughable, when you consider the fact that Alabama remains dead last this morning on the ranking of states and how many residents have received the vaccine....and when you consider that Alabama ranks at the very top of the obesity list. 36.1 per cent of the population is obese.

Alabama can't handle the general population inoculation burden, much less when it is weighed toward such a large percentage of her population.
