This is not the newsroom on 2nd Avenue North (unless it was redesigned and repainted at one point...it was bright orange forever!). Not sure where it was. But...
what this photo does not show:
1---cigarette smoke (though on the desk closest to the camera has black ashtray on it. I believe it was mine. We had at least one pipe smoker back then.
2---noise. There was a police scanner going constantly...maybe two! There were at least two news "wire" machines printing news 24/7. Think of two manual typewriters being used all day long. Speaking of, the typewriters in the photo would also be in use almost constantly. Oh yea, people talking and yelling and laughing and....Is it any wonder I can hardly hear anymore? What?
