SOS Players Discuss The Montgomery Impact

Some of the actors and executives involved in the filming of Son of The South gathered online Monday evening, discussing how location shooting in Montgomery impacted their work.

Producer Barry Alexander Brown is a Montgomery native, and selected the Capital City as a logical and true place to shoot many of the scenes.

Actor Ludi Lin traveled perhaps furthest from home to fill the part of one of the two Asian men who were on the freedom ride bus when it was attacked by the klan, while police looked the the other way, in 1961.

Lin said "Montgomery informed all of our characters", and told how he and some of the others visited some of the Civil Rights historic sites, including EJI's "lynching memorial", The Rosa Parks Library and Museum, and the bus station itself, now an historic site operated by the U.S. Park Service.

(I had a short speaking role in the film...as a reporter...and although I was on camera on TV for 25 years before my retirement, this was my first film role. Thanks to Barry Brown for casting me!)
