Montgomery: End of The Line?

    Interstate 85 ends in Montgomery when it connects with I-65.

   Now a proposed expansion of Amtrak service to Montgomery would give the city another "end of the line" distinction. Look at the map:

 

     Yes, that's a kind of rail spur running between Auburn and Montgomery, where the proposed expansion would dead end in the state capital.

 

     The last time Montgomery had Amtrak service was in 1995, with the former grain silos serving as a terminal. Service was eliminated that year. 

     But heck, I'd take any addition that includes Montgomery...dead end or not.
