Two years since Legislature Authorized statues of Rosa Parks and Helen Keller on Capitol Grounds

     Two years have passed since the Legislature approved a bill that was then signed by Governor Ivey in May of 2019 to install statues of Rosa Parks and Helen Keller on the grounds of the Alabama Capitol.

 

"The Alabama Historical Commission and the Division of Construction Management of the Department of Finance shall implement the placement of the statues on the grounds of the Capitol according to the recommendations and findings of the Women's Tribute Statue Commission, as provided in this division."

     The commission created by the legislation scheduled three virtual/Zoom meetings in 2020, but

so far as I can tell, there has been no action on the project. 

     And no meetings have been scheduled since the last one on 11/20/2020. That 10:000 AM meeting was sent to the state open meetings website at 9:25 AM the same day.
