A New Exhibition
JUSTICE NOT FAVOR
Alabama Women & the Vote
Opening at the Museum of Alabama
Thursday,
August 26, 2021,
on the 101st Anniversary of the 19th
Amendment
|
|
On View Through May 31,
2022
The exhibition explores the compelling story of
the long fight to secure voting rights for women in the state. From
the debate over the 19th Amendment through the modern Civil Rights
era, it illuminates lives and voices from four generations of
Alabama suffragists. Across time, a demand for “justice, not favor”
connects these women—determined organizers, stalwart opponents,
trailblazing female officeholders, courageous voting-rights
marchers, and countless others—
as part of Alabama’s complex suffrage
story.
