     I could see the trade center towers under construction from my block in Manhattan in the months before I moved to Alabama, though I took this photo from the Empire State Building when they were finished.

     My parents both worked in Lower Manhattan within blocks of The World Center before their retirement, and would have mourned the people and the places had they lived that long.

     I gave them a gift certificate to the restaurant at the top of one of the towers...Windows on The World... for one of their wedding anniversaries in the years after the buildings were finished.
