...and they plan to be finished with the job in time for the 75th anniversary of the original 1948 ribbon cutting, on August 31, 2023.
Although they are adding air conditioning, the lack of it has not stopped decades of concerts and other events from happening at Garrett. For example:
Elvis performed at the Garrett Coliseum, Montgomery, Alabama. 8:30 p.m
The crowd was 11328 and Elvis wore the famous 1973 American eagle suit with the second belt
This show was attended by Governor George Wallace.

BTW: The facility is named for W. W. Garrett, the first chairman of the Alabama Agricultural Board.
