The Advertiser quotes a City of Montgomery spokesman:
"We're not doing it this year to the high volume of trash pickup," said Griffith Waller, a spokesman for the city, of city crews hauling off mostly yard waste. Trash is not household garbage. "We hope to be able to restart the tree recycling next year."
Trees placed by the curb will be picked up by sanitation department crews and hauled to a landfill. The recycling program goes back at least 10 years. Residents could drop off trees at locations throughout the city. For the past four years or so, the city has worked with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
