30 Years ago Today--February 15, 1992: A "Kiss-In protest" at UA

I don't know why this event was held the day AFTER Valentines Day.

"A “Kiss Off” was held on February 15, 1992, to raise the visibility of LGBTQ people on The University of Alabama campus. The gathering—which drew about fifty participants–was sponsored by “Seen and Heard,” a group composed of straight and LGBTQ students. The “Kiss Off” was organized in response to recent events at UA and at Auburn University, including a controversy about whether the UA Student Government Association would deny funding to the UA’s Gay/Lesbian Alliance. “Seen and Heard” also wanted to show support for LGBTQ students at Auburn, whose student senate had denied the Auburn Gay and Lesbian Association’s application for a charter a few months before."
