War and peace gods

 

     A farmer dug up an ancient statue in the Gaza Strip, and it is described as being of a Canaanite goddess of love, beauty, and war who is thought to have been the model for the Greek goddess Athena. 

 

     My first reaction was to comment about how odd it was to combine love, beauty and war in the same description of a god, but we do the same thing, no?

 

 

Don't we pray to our gods to find love, be beautiful, and win at war?
