One of the nets spends 3:30 at the front of their nightly program telling viewers about the stories they are about to see in the newscast, using much the same video.
Then, of course, the anchor comes on with an additional "intro" to the story.
GET TO IT!
When you subtract commercials, the entire newscasts are sometimes less than 15-minutes long...minus the 3:30 they've used up front.
