Ties

 

Not for the first time, a newspaper story is advising men to stop wearing neckties:

"Forget the tie, but wear them (pants) with a decent jacket, a pressed Oxford or even a crisp T-shirt and a good pair of shoes — which, believe it or not, are making a comeback."

 

     During my 25 or so years anchoring on TV, I collected hundreds of ties, and I've taken to wearing them while I give tours at the Alabama Capitol Building. In fact, I did some tie organizing over the weekend:

      I posted that photo on Facebook over the weekend, and got lots of advice about culling the collection...for example, donating some to places that help former inmates trying to turn their lives around. Or turning them into a quilt!
