The old line about how many people it takes was appropriate on Friday in The Alabama Capitol Building when staff was called on to change a bulb in one of the large chandlers hanging in the center of the beautiful cantilevered stairs on either side of the front entrance of the 1850's building.
The original fixtures in the building were oil lamps, updated to electric lights when electricity was "discovered" in the 1800's.
And the modern chandlers were also designed to make that light-bulb changing easier too. As you can see in this video, the fixtures can be lowered for bulb-replacement or cleaning, then raised back up.
