The names are back: John Sophocleus (for U.S. Senate) and Dr. Jimmy Blake (for Governor).
Both were Libertarian Party guests of mine on the radio during my years in Birmingham, and now they---and their party--- are back, running in the 2022 General Election (though it cost the party some $250,000 to have their names, and the names of other candidates, on the ballot in November, the cost of gathering enough signatures for ballot access).
Neither of the major parties likely wants to see a third party siphoning off votes from their own candidates, but I'm willing to bet having Libertarians on the ballot in November will hurt Republicans more than Democrats, since their political philosophy aligns more with the GOP on most issues. The exceptions are drug and sex laws. Libertarians are small government people, and thus want the government out of people's lives---including opposing drug and prostitution laws.
The GOP talks about small government, but usually wants the government big enough to ban those sex and drug activities.
