| Protestors at Capitol steps today. |
The main target of the gathering was prison conditions, but the group was also calling for expanding Medicaid coverage.
The main doors to the capitol, where I work part-time, were locked. But at the end of the protest I opened a door to take a few photos, and the remaining protestors aimed their cameras at me...not really having any idea who I was. 😃
(l) Some picketing signs were left behind.
The Montgomery Advertiser story about the protest included this:
Nearly every person at the protest said they have or had relatives in prison. They said their loved ones told them that inmates do not receive medical attention when needed, sleep on the floor, do not receive enough food and are assaulted by guards or other prisoners.
