We don't know whose desk this was, but it is on display in the former law library at the Capitol Building. It was bought for the Governor's office in 1880.
The sides come together and the desk closes upward, keeping all of the papers protected with one key.
Made by The Wooten Desk Company, Indianapolis Indiana. Production only lasted fifteen years.
