I'm trying hard to understand Alabamians siding with Russia and against Ukraine. I mean WTF?
The top Republican on the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee reacted to Zelensky's speech to Congress this way:
“This is not a time for partisan rhetoric...this is a time to unify as a nation to unify behind Ukraine against one of the most evil forces we’ve seen since my father’s war, and that’s World War II.”
That's a quote from Rep. Michale McCaul. He represents Texas, not Alabama, and I'm finding it difficult to sense that kind of pro-Ukraine spirit here.
Faulkner University recently paid pro-Russia gadfly Candace Owens to be the speaker at their annual fundraiser! And some Alabamians paid to hear her.
When Russia first attacked Ukraine, freshman U.S. Senator Tuberville expressed support for Ukraine:
"The United States stands with the Ukrainian people and will support them with the supplies and financial aid needed to protect their country.”
But when that aid increased, Tuberville voted against the spending, perhaps an extention of his use of "anti-Communism" as a reason.
And there's this:

When we support Russia, aren't we supporting war criminals?
