This month marks the 50th Anniversary of the end of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, though it would be April 30, 1975 when North Vietnamese forces retook Saigon and renamed it Ho Chi Minh City.

     I was in Vietnam from 1970-1971, based in Quang Tri, ten miles south of the DMZ.

     I celebrated my 20th birthday there.
