Confederate Memorial at Alabama Capitol. |
It was the bloodiest, most deadly battle in the Civil War, and Alabama paid a price:
Alabama sent 5,930 men to the battle.
2,250 were killed, captured, wounded or missing (38%).
A memorial to the Alabama Confederates was unveiled at Gettysburg in 1933.
HERE is a good look back at the battle. 12 days of events were scheduled.
More than 3,000 horses also died in the battle.
