Montgomery & Race

 Montgomery is a majority minority city...about 30% white and 60%African-American.

And that divide is becoming more visible for two reasons.

The August 22nd Mayoral election:

Incumbent Mayor Reed is opposed by several black candidates and one white opponent...who has backing from some big white political players.

Then there was the "rumble at the river" over the weekend, which "...appeared to unfold largely along racial lines", according to an AL.COM story.

 (Note, my original posting had the racial percentages reversed at the top. That's been corrected!)
