An Even More Distressing Ending For USS Montgomery (LCS 8): A Spare Parts Source.

LCS8--U.S.S Montgomery

The latest list of U.S. Navy ships due to be decommissioned includes The USS Montgomery...

USS Shiloh (CG-67), USS Lake Erie (CG-70), USNS Spearhead (EPF-1), USNS Choctaw County (EPF-2), USNS Millinocket (EPF-3), USNS Fall River (EPF-4), USS Germantown (LSD-42), USNS John Glenn (ESD-2), USS Jackson (LCS-6) and USS Montgomery (LCS-8). According to the plan, the cruisers, LCSs (Including The USS Montgomery) and two of the Spearhead EPFs will be used as "parts donors" for other active duty ships.

Earlier there had been talk of selling the LCS ships to other Navies.

  1. Tim, the entire LCS program was a multibillion bust. Here’s a good look at the mess.

  2. Yes...I read the Propublica article. I was focusing LCS 8 because it obviously is named for the Alabama Capital city (-:
