Today is One of Alabama's THREE Confederate Holidays

Confederate Memorial At Capitol.

Today: Confederate Memorial Day

(the other yet to come this year is Monday, June 3, Jefferson Davis’ Birthday)

Two "holidays" have been added in recent years:

Martin Luther King, Jr. (scheduled on the same day as the existing state holiday for Robert E. Lee!) January 15th.

Rosa Parks (a day of commemoration ONLY...NOT a state holiday). December 1st.

Here is the full list of State Holidays in Alabama.

(NOTE: A lawmaker in Mississippi is trying to undo his state's King/Lee double-holiday.)

Since Monday is a State holiday, residents will be able to watch cable coverage of the 1st D.T. trials
