AL.COM story:
Athens police on Tuesday said their investigation into a violent altercation involving a Donald Trump campaign volunteer showed “no indication” the incident was, as the Alabama Republican Party claimed, a “politically motivated attack.”
“Our investigation suggests road rage led to the altercation between a driver in one vehicle, and a passenger in another vehicle,” said Athens Police Chief Anthony Pressnell in a statement issued Tuesday.
“We received numerous questions from media asking about it being a politically motivated attack, which we never reported, and there is no indication that was the case.”
