Davis was the first (and only) president of the Confederacy. He was sworn in on the upper steps of The Alabama Capitol building, a spot marked by a copper star * at the front of The Alabama Capitol building.
(* the Daughters of The Confederacy marker uses the religious 6-point star, mostly considered the religious star symbol, "The Star of David".)
