HUGE KKK March 100 Years Ago, including an Alabama US Senator

Voices in Time: The KKK Makes Its Case in Mass Media | Lapham's Quarterly

At the height of its popularity, the Ku Klux Klan brought more than 30,000 of its members to participate in a parade in D.C. on Aug. 8, 1925. (Video: British Pathé)

Calvin Coollidge was president that day.

"Negro, Catholic, and Jewish organizations petition Coolidge to halt a march and rally planned by the Ku Klux Klan for Washington DC in August. Coolidge is reported to oppose the Klan gathering but to believe he has no authority to stop the parade." (New York Times 07/03/1925 p1.)

No shortage of Alabama KKK members, including one longtime U.S. Senator:

John Tyler Morgan

John Tyler Morgan (D) (June 20, 1824 – June 11, 1907, the U.S. Senator for Alabama (March 4, 1877, to June 11, 1907), was the Grand Dragon of the KKK in Alabama.[21][22]
