DD*T-44/###&t r?

     On the left is a coded message from WWII...it was found in a capsule attached to the leg of a carrier pigeon...a long dead pigeon who died in a chimney during the war.
     Although it was actually found during renovations to the building in 1982, it was only recently that a campaign (online, I'm sure, not by pigeon) convinced the English government to try to decipher it.
     The secret service types in London say they can't crack it because it was written in a one-time code, and without the key to that one-time code, there's little hope for translating it.
     The TIME story linked above does report they managed to determine the to and from of it though.
