Road Trips

I have a few scheduled events in the next four weeks, starting this Friday when I'll moderate an Immigration round table discussion at Auburn University. Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks will be one of the panlists. Check back later in the week and I'll post the campus location for the 9:00am event.

On May 13th, I'll be moderating a panel discussion about the Documentary "It's Still Elementary" at The Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery. The documentary is an update on the original "It's Elementary", which showed educators teaching elementary school children about homophobia and the bullying, harassment and violence against kids that can result from it. Alabama Public Television was apparently one of the public TV groups that chose not to air the program when it was offered in 1996. I started working at APT two years later. The Academy Award winning documentary's director, Debra Chasnoff will be on the panel. Other showings are scheduled for The Uinversity of Alabama on Monday, May 12th 6:30 - 8:30, and at UAB on Wednesday, May 14th, 7-9 p.m.

Finally, on Wednesday, May 28, I'll speak at the monthly breakfast meeting of the Blount County-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce about Media, The Legislature and more. The 2008 Legislative Session will have ended the week before. Thanks to Chamber President Charles Carr for the invitation!
