Boycott!

Some angry Michigan residents are calling for a boycott of Alabama because of U.S. Senator Richard Shelby's leadership role in opposing an aid package for the Detroit-based domestic auto industry. BoycottAlabamaNow.com is the official web site where you'll read Shelby's statements in opposition and counter arguments by supporters. Shelby is quoted as saying he can't understand how hurting workers in Alabama will help the situation...but surely Mr. Shelby understands that the purpose of a boycott is to apply pressure on people like him, to convince them to change their own politics. The UAW has pointed out that Alabama has spent hundreds of millions of tax dollars to lure non-union automakers like Mercedes and Hyundai to open plants in this state...so Shelby has a vested interest. If Detroit fails, does Alabama gain?
