Jennifer Foster, with The Opelika-Auburn News, and Brian Lyman, of The Press-Register will be our panelists, and we'll tackle the Siegelman appeal (and that other Democratic Governor who also found himself charged with a quid pro quo scandal this week!) Also on the potential schedule: The Economy, Tubberville's departure, and the apology to Tuskegee too! Join us at 9:00pm Friday. There will be no repeat on Sunday because of fundraising scheduling, but you'll be able to catch the program online, as usual, in the APT Video Room once it's posted on Monday.

Remember the automakers in Alabama do indeed receive considerable government assistance--from Japan, South Korea, Germany, and the State of Alabama.
ReplyDeleteIn a May 2008 letter to me Senator Richard Shelby writes,
"Rest assured, I will work to make sure the Senate Committee on Banking continues to pursue an active oversight agenda aimed at ensuring the safety and soundness of our nation's banking system."
Yet, had Senator Shelby properly supervised banking and finance over his many, many years in the Senate, the current banking and financial crisis may well have been avoided. And now he is vehemently opposed to federal rescue measures.
Why did Senator Shelby fail to provide real leadership and meaningful "oversight.?"
Indeed, why was he "ASLEEP AT THE SWITCH?"
Now, the financial and credit crisis he failed to to see and prevent has pushed GM, Ford, Chrysler to the brink of bankruptcy.
Yet, Senator Shelby opposes "bridge loans," criticizes domestic automakers, and seems determined to scapegoat three of the MANY, MANY victims of his own incompetence.
Why, Senator Shelby?
