The Washington Post reported this morning that Alabama based Regions Bank will be one of the banks to not pass its "stress test" with flying colors. The paper is quoting sources close to the process, so we'll have to wait till Thursday afternoon for official word. But the Post report indicates Regions, Bank of America and Citigroup will need to raise cash to improve their ability to withstand economic pressures. There hasn't been a single bank failure in Alabama, but next-door Georgia has had the most since the start of 2008...eleven, according to TheStreet.com.
[UPDATE: Reports Wednesday morning indicate Regions is among 10 of the 19 large banks that were tested that have been told they need to raise capital.
