Exchange Club
It was great to meet the nice folks at the Tuscaloosa Exchange Club (the largest in the state I'm told) at Noon today. We talked about media, and I plugged this Sunday's start of the "Attack on New York" series about The CSS Alabama and Raphael Semmes.
On the way out of town I heard a Public Service Announcement with the Mayor of Tuscaloosa describing T-Town as "The Most Progressive City in Alabama". What cha think? Is he right?

well they've just finished rezoning the city to re-segregate, so maybe not the MOST progressive.
ReplyDeletei should clarify, the school systems rezoned.
ReplyDeleteWell... I suppose it depends upon what one considers "progressive," doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteUndoubtedly, the mayor would've gathered more attention (and garnered more ire), were he to have claimed that T-Town as 'the most regressive city in Alabama,' or perhaps that 'all other Alabama cities are backwards, by comparison to Tuscaloosa.'
Yet somehow, I don't think the mayor's remarks true.
What'cha reckon?
Sometimes though, it does seem that one must rub feathers the wrong way to accomplish something.
