  1. This is a largely symbolic gesture... one wholly without consequence.

Of course, those whom voted against it only demonstrate that they believe it is perfectly good, natural and normal to behave as an outlandish three-year-old and demonstrate neither respect for person or office.

Thus, by their inactions, they speak volumes, and in fact - because they neither resoundingly condemn nor punish such bizarre belligerence - encourage it.

It psychiatric parlance, it's called "passive aggressive behavior," which is a feature of some psychiatric disorders (including Passive-Aggressive Personality Disorder), and is an emotional and character defect (albeit one which can be cured/corrected).

Passive Aggressive Personality Disorder includes inappropriate maladaptive responses to life problems to the point where relationships with family, coworkers and friends are adversely affected. Avoidance of just punishment for wrong behavior, manipulation, including efforts to punish others, inplausable deniability and concealment of hostility or disagreement are frequently exhibited characteristics.

In reality, in our daily lives we face negative consequences and punishments for our bad actions, and reap rewards for our good ones.

This is a lesson that should be learned by third grade... at most.

  2. The resolution was a slap on the wrist with a feather. It's really of no consequence, and it was easy for our Dem representatives to vote for it.
