an LD*MM (#59)

In part, the outrage and hyperbole work because the mainstream media, insecure about their own status in an atomizing world, play into the tyranny of split-screen coverage where almost any claim — no matter how outlandish — becomes one side in “an interesting debate.”
That's from a NY Times piece today that examines the weird amplification that seems to be going on in regard to anything the Obama Administration does. Talk to schoolkids and tell them to work hard becomes socialist indoctrination. And the media are the central figure in it all. It's herd journalism at its worst.
