*Evidence, Part 3,485

"Reader comment" after a story about a forum at the University on Alabama on the topic of Human Sexuality:
Parents' tuition at work. Hasn't this issue been discussed to death. With all the information out there today, only the lowest forms of life catch STD's and STD's serve as method of Natural Selection. Let them run their course.
[*Evidence that newspapers need to closely monitor their comments section, or go back to the letters to the editor system.]

  1. Tim, ol' buddy, I think I'm gonna' call your hand on this one.

First, you exaggerate. Have you ACTUALLY (or should I write "literally"?) counted, so that the post to which you refer is "Part 3,485"?

By your own recent admission, you've posted 1000 entries.

I don't think so. But, I could allow some creative license. (Just keep a close watch on it, to ensure it stays valid, and doesn't get revoked.)

But please tell me (and your other readers), what IS the difference between that opinion, and one printed/published on a piece of paper (the daily rag)?

You obliquely express your sense of disapproval, but is it with the sentiment (the thought(s) expressed, or the words used?

Doubtless, there are those whom hold that "STD's serve as method of Natural Selection," as the writer opines. (Oh! Did you catch the improper use of the apostrophe?)

Then, of course, there would be a discussion following, touching upon natural selection, Creation, the origin of the universe, purpose of man, morality, ethics, religion and an entire host of other subjects germane to the discussion at hand, and corollary arguments and ideas to both sides.

Now, having written what I have, I have seen some "piss-poor" letters to the editor in a variety of newspapers, circulars, weeklies, and other newsprint-published venues. The editors do service or disservice to themselves and others by publishing or not publishing, editing or not editing, correcting or not correcting spelling and grammar.

So, they catch hell on both sides.

    What was that phrase?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't?

I think you're gonna' have to come up with a more cohesively cogent argument.

P.S. I object to the second letter. However, philosophically, it agrees with the first!

  2. What would Jesus do? He Said love your neighbor as yourself. No one ever died in Jesus's presence. It follows that his believers should be consistant in their actions and strive to be like him....I believe Jesus would support public health care for those people in this country today who cannot afford it.
