Just Checking...
Folks who want to know how large a paycheck their relative/neighbor/friend/enemy who works for the State of Alabama gets now have an easy way to find out. In the interest of "open" government, the records are online here. As has been pointed out this morning on Twitter, there are some interesting names missing...like the Governor and Attorney General, but I suspect that's a glitch and not some vast conspiracy. Yea, I know we're all supposed to support this in the interest of transparency, but it makes me glad I no longer work in a state agency. Isn't there some kind of privacy for individual employees? Wouldn't it be enough to distribute the info by category of employee within an agency? Just seems a bit cheesy to me.

Public has a right to know how its money is spent. While some will have a problem with this, they should also remember who they work for.
