Your thoughts? And before you ACLU bash, please remember the person* on the Alabama State Quarter and representing us in the Hall of Statuary in The U.S. Capitol Building was a founding member.
*That would be Helen Keller.
Bill, the fact that "Helen Keller Drive" is the location of medical facilities is, in itself, a form of stereotyping. Deafness and/or blindness is not a medical problem.
The same reasoning is why "Rosa Parks Ave." and "MLK Drive" are almost invariably located in areas mostly populated by Black folks.
Wouldn't it be great if Dexter Ave. in Montgomery were named "Sojourner Truth Ave.?"
Helen Keller has a street named after her in Tuscaloosa. Helen Keller Drive near the DCH Hospital is the home of several medical facilities.
